Dipika Pallikal invites Chennai-ites to participate in the biggest multi-sport movement in India
Adidas Uprising – a unique initiative by adidas to inspire sports enthusiasts to discover (& re-discover) the joy of playing sports, comes to Chennai for the first time. Following the successful debut of the first edition in 2015 across the three cities of Bengaluru, Mumbai & New Delhi, adidas Uprising 2.0 is set to create an unmatched sporting experience in Chennai this year along with five other cities – Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Pune from October to December 2016. Dipika Pallikal, India’s ace squash player and an adidas athlete, invited Chennai-ites to participate in the common man’s Olympics.
adidas Uprising 2.0 will celebrate Chennai’s love for sports and will witness thousands taking to the field and participating in a series of sporting events on 15th & 16th October, 2016.
adidas Uprising is an endeavour to inspire and motivate people to fight the inertia of laziness, excuses & apathy and embrace sports. It is aimed at igniting and fuelling a revolution to awaken people up to the beauty of sweat, of aching muscles, of blisters, of victory & the joy of competition.
Speaking on adidas Uprising 2.0, Amrith Gopinath, Director, Brand Activations, adidas India said, “While at the heart of Uprising is inspiring people to rediscover the joy of playing, it is also about creating sporting environments in cities as well. Year one was the first step and we were able to inspire 45,000 people to take up active sports. The phenomenal participation encouraged us to make it bigger this year, with multiple sporting events planned over 110 venues in 6 cities across India. In our first season in Chennai, we expect over 8000 participants to register for the eight sporting events”.

adidas invites residents of Chennai to participate, compete and enjoy their passion for 08 different sports across 13 venues in the city on October 15th and 16th, 2016. The sporting activities and events include Cricket, Badminton, Cycling, Tennis, Football, Basketball, Running, as well as an alternative sport like Zumba.
These activities are being hosted at multiple venues across the city including Phoenix Market City, Velachery; Loyola College; DB Jain College; Nehru Stadium; St Louis, Adyar and Gateway School, ECR among others.
