Sathyabama University organized three day International Congress on Education and Public Welfare (ICEPW- 2017) under the patronage of Indian National Commission for cooperation with UNESCO, Ministry of HRD, and Government of India. This Congress was organized to pay tribute to Col. Dr. Jeppiaar, Founder Chancellor of Sathyabama University for his exemplary contribution towards Education and Society under the valuable guidance of Tmt. Remibai Jeppiaar, Chancellor of the University.
The Vice President of the University Dr. Marie Johnson invited the host of educationist for the congress. The delegates of the congress were vivid ranging from researchers in science, arts and culture, environmental-child-women right activists, artists, NGO’s, Industrialists, academicians, students, etc. Dr.Mariazeena Johnson, Pro Chancellor of the University, emphasized the role of the education towards the society development in her presidential address at the inauguration on 08/02/2017.
ICEPW-2017 is one of the biggest annual thought provoking gatherings of premier inter-multi-disciplinary experts from across the globe from various walks of fields. The congress features 4 International speakers from UK, US, France and Germany. In addition 17 national speakers from various states delivered lecturers and conducted plenary sessions.
This exclusive event is organized with a vision of gathering and honoring experts who revolutionize the lives of people across the globe. The Pro Chancellor of the University awarded the Col. Dr.Jeppiaar Excellence Award and a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh to four eminent personalities in varied fields –Padmashree A Muruganantham under the category entrepreneurship, Padma Bhushan Dr. Mallika Sarabhai for Arts and Culture, Padmashree Jadav Payeng for Environment, and Padmashree Deepa Mallik for Sports.
The Science Fair conducted in the Congress was a highlight of the event. More than 1000 students from different schools attended the Science Fair. It was the platform for them to display their scientific models and inventions. The 20 best models displayed by the school students bagged a cash award of Rs.10000 each along with the certificate. Consolation prize of Rs.2000 was given to 20 other projects.
