Transgender Activist and TV host Apsara Reddy along with LGBT organization Chennai Dost held a protest at the Producer Council Premises against the movie Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu, a film that Apsara feels objectifies the LGBT community as sex objects and also portrays virgin women as cheap sex starved beings.

Detailing the scenes that reduce the LGBT community to a cheap community, Apsara said, “Gautam Karthik is the son of a Big actor like Karthik and was launched in his debut movie by Mani Ratnam, how can he endorse such humour.”

“everyday members of our community are abused, beaten and even sent out of their homes. For hunger and survival we are forced into so many things, parents of such children when they watch such films or friends in school or college how will they react. How will our community get respect,”

Vishal the head of Producer Council despite his assurance to Apsara did not turn up since it was a senior Producer Gnanavel Raja backing the film. The members of Chennai Dost and their Chairman Sasha said, “It is disheartening that a leader like Vishal has shirked his responsibility. There is no value for our emotions,”
She asked why there is no representation in the Censor Board for Transwomen either.

Apsara had earlier submitted a petition against the movie to District Legal Services Authority, Judge Dr Isac Jayanthi who promised to summon the director after thorough investigation.

The Commissioner of Police’s officer Deputy Commissioner (IS) also accepted their petition against the objectionable scenes.

Apsara and Chennai Dost are demanding a public apology and deletion of such scenes in the movie.

The director who makes fun of the LGBT community, Apsara says, “represents a dark and sleazy side of cinema that does such injustices to backward communities,”
