WeaveinIndia is the story of hand woven fabrics being crafted beautifully into the sari to the liking of a contemporary Indian woman. The designer brand that started out as a boutique under a different name is now an exclusive house of the hand woven. The brand prides itself in the fact that it collects authentic Indian fabric and curates them to create hand woven tales on saris.
WeaveinIndia is the thought baby of designer Mandira Bansal. A fashion design degree from NIFT coupled with a Fashion Management course from London Collage of Fashion, she started out under her own brand to design exquisite garments for clients. Down the line Mandira Bansal Studio became WeaveinIndia dealing solely with hand woven textiles and exploring ways to incorporate intricate designs in those nine yards. The canvas is nine yards in length and inspiration for art possibly unbounded.
In the age that sees this art being taken over by machines, WiI aims to revive the weaver’s spirit of workmanship. An alumnus of London Collage of Fashion, Miss Bansal believes India is no less in inspiration for fashionable clothing than any other part of world. Thus began the journey of WeaveinIndia. A few months of time dedicated to research and innovation, and the brand was ready to have its first few customers.
While the move toward sustainable fashion is still catching on in the Indian textile scene, WeaveinIndia as a brand finds itself niched in the right space of time. It intends to bridge this gap between attiring responsibly and being fashion forward.
Launching its latest spring-summer collection titled ‘Paheli’, WeaveinIndia brings a new air to traditional Indian weaves for men and women. The collection features Bandhinis, Banarasis, Kancheevarams, Patan Patola, Chanderis, and Koras to complement custom blouses made completely in-house. Paheli lets you adorn yourself in hand woven saris, lehengas, bandhgalas, and sherwanis but also leaves a sense of mystery unravelled. Carrying a certain amount of mystique is a style statement as well.
